Dr. Brian L. Joiner is a senior consultant and advisor at Joiner Sandbrook. Brian brings more than 40 years of first-hand experience and his world-renowned advocacy of management principles for improving quality and productivity. He was the co-founder and CEO of Joiner Associates Inc. a management consulting firm which became Oriel Inc. in 1997.
He is author of Fourth Generation Management: The New Business Consciousness (McGraw Hill) and coauthor with Peter Scholtes of The Team Handbook, one of the best selling business books of all time, having now sold over one-and-a-half million copies.
One of the original nine judges for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, Dr. Joiner was a frequent national speaker and seminar leader. He has received awards from the American Society of Quality Control and the American Statistical Association, and is also a recipient of the prestigious W. Edwards Deming medal.
Brian was a tenured professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he was one of the originators of the Minitab statistical software system, which is still in widespread use by corporations today. Passionate about supporting his adopted hometown of Madison, Wisconsin, he co-founded and served as Chair to an environmental non-profit organization, Sustain Dane, from 1999 to 2008.

Jon Sandbrook - Principal Consultant![]() A principal partner in Joiner Sandbrook, Jon co-founded the company out of a passion to help guide and implement organizational growth and leadership for profit, people and the planet.
Jon is currently the President of Pan Genome Systems, a biotech based in Madison, Wisconsin that is focused on developing effective vaccines and diagnostic tools, including Johne's Disease and Tuberculosis. From a diverse commercial background, Jon has driven strategic growth initiatives in the US, Asia, Australia and New Zealand and has significant experience leading and facilitating strategic planning, organizational development, and strategic project efforts at a local, national and multi-national level. In New Zealand, Jon has led the corporate strategy division and social responsibility efforts for a multinational food safety and quality assurance organization and has worked on projects with both public and private entities, government agencies and non-profits. Coming from a family of teachers and professors, Jon has a special interest in education and leadership development. He has coached key administrative staff in the effective development of school, community and business partnerships, led professional development programs and facilitated business strategy sessions with diverse entities ranging from corporations to school districts and non-profit organizations. Jon has also held a number of governance and advisory roles. Jon has particular experience in growing businesses in the food and agriculture sectors and a background in the education, sustainability, biotech and food/agriculture sectors. Kristen Joiner - Principal Consultant![]() A co-founder of Joiner Sandbrook, Kristen has an extensive background in starting, building and growing social change initiatives and organizations.
Most recently, Kristen led an environmental sustainability organization based in Madison, Wisconsin, where she worked with businesses, schools and communities seeking to green their operations and practices. During her tenure, she co- founded Badger Rock Middle School, a charter school focused on teaching and modeling sustainable and resilient practices in South Madison and co-founded the nationally-recognized Mpower Program for businesses. Kristen started her career with Habitat for Humanity International, initiating a new environmentally sustainable housing program for Habitat in the Texas/Mexico border communities. Following her time on the border, Kristen applied her grassroots knowledge of sustainable development to global policy in New York City, where she headed the Sustainable Development and Population Program for Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), an international NGO of national legislators, with a focus on West Africa. During her time working with the West African parliament, Kristen was intrigued by the award-winning Scenarios from Africa program and subsequently co-founded the sister organization, Scenarios USA, in NYC in 1999, with ABC News Producer Maura Minsky. At Scenarios, Kristen spent a decade working in collaboration with public school teachers and Hollywood filmmakers to engage youth in writing and filmmaking for public health. The organization has garnered multiple awards for its work with youth, and the films have premiered at theaters in New York and aired on Showtime, MTV, Sundance and other outlets. In the process, Scenarios and Joiner came to be recognized as a creative leaders in public school engagement and the reinvention of sex education. Kristen is an accomplished writer, has worked with many large national and regional foundations in the U.S. Kristen has been written about in publications ranging from the New York Times to Hollywood Variety as well as a host of local newspapers and magazines in various regions of the country.
